🛡️ COPPA Compliance Statement

KyDz UnitVerse complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), a federal law protecting the privacy of children under 13 years old.

Our COPPA Compliance Measures

Educators Only - No Student Accounts

UnitVerse is designed exclusively for EDUCATORS (18+ years old). Students do NOT have accounts, logins, or direct access to this platform. This tool is for teacher planning only.

No Child Data Collection

We do NOT collect, store, or process information from children under 13. Student names, ages, photos, or any identifiable information are NEVER requested or stored by UnitVerse.

Local-Only Student References

If your lesson plans reference student work (e.g., "Create worksheet for student accommodations"), that data is stored LOCALLY in your browser cache only - never transmitted to our servers.

No Tracking of Minors

We do not use cookies, pixels, or any tracking technology to collect information about children. Our analytics only track aggregated, anonymized educator usage patterns.

No Third-Party Child Data Sharing

We NEVER share child information with third parties for any purpose. Since we don't collect child data, there's nothing to share.

Age-Gated Access

All UnitVerse accounts require SSO authentication through your school district's ArcGate portal, which verifies that users are adult educators (18+).

School District Responsibilities

While UnitVerse is COPPA-compliant by design (no child data collection), your school district remains responsible for:

Obtaining parental consent if student names or work appear in educator-created lesson plans
Training educators on FERPA/COPPA best practices (e.g., not including PII in notes)
Ensuring compliance with state-specific privacy laws (e.g., California Student Privacy, New York Education Law §2-d)
Reviewing and approving third-party edtech tools per district policy

⚠️ Important: Educator Responsibility

If you choose to include student-specific information in your lesson plans (names, IEP details, etc.), YOU are responsible for ensuring:

You have proper authorization to reference that student
Parental consent has been obtained where required
Your district's data governance policies are followed

When in doubt, use generic placeholders (e.g., "Student A", "ELL learners") instead of real names.

Parent Rights & Inquiries

Parents have the right to:

Review any lesson plans that reference their child (contact your school directly)
Request deletion of any child-related data (if improperly stored)
Contact us directly with COPPA concerns at coppa@kydz.com

Note: Since UnitVerse does not collect child data, most parent requests should be directed to your school district's FERPA coordinator, who can review teacher-created lesson content.
